Kenya Development Projects

  1. Rural Medical Capacity Building

Helping to raise funds to support Joshua Nambere in obtaining his nursing degree, to bring this necessary medical training back to the rural Rendille and Samburu communities that he serves

  2. Community health outreach

Joshua working on childhood vaccination programs near Korr

  3. Joshua and community health workers conducting outreach to Rendille mothers

  4. Joshua visiting new mother at home for health check-ups

  5. Borana Adult Education

Started an adult education program for women and herders in the remote communities surrounding the Merti Plateau. It is a feeder program that provides basic literacy and numeracy with a plan for the community to take over the project at the end of the funding period

  6. Students range in ages, proving that it is never too late to receive an education, and often is a population that is overlooked by development

  7. Young teacher with her students

  8. Lobbying for improved healthcare and water delivery

Working to lobby health ministries and water management in Isiolo for the greater Merti region. Focusing on reliable deliveries of medical supplies, staffing of community health centers, and managing water piping systems

  9. Managing water piping for settled communities along the Merti Plateau

  10. Inter-ethnic Football League

Fund-raising and promotion of inter-ethnic football league, with teams comprised of multiple ethnic groups as a way to combat youth conflict

  11. Early Childhood Education Development

In the Lkisin area of Samburu, young children come into contact with wildlife regularly on their way to school (this elephant corridor is near the current school). Assisting the community in building a permanent school structure and kitchen away from elephant presence

  12. Current school (under the tree), evidence of elephant damage and insecure location
